Before I use the Telescope Driver Sytem by Mel Bartel . Now i will use a stand alone system. The Meade Autostar 497 and DS Motorset 492. For Oblect input i use Autostar direct or my Palm IIIc with Planetarium . The DS Motors are for my job to slow. I have modify the Gears of the DS Motors.
So looks the Original Gear. Ater i connect the firs 2 gears on the main shaft by Glue ( Epoxy ). I disconnect the first gear on the other shaft and substitute it by a spacer. Now the Motor are 4 time faster, but the torque is lower . After i build the High Voltage Board.
I use a Modu 1 Wormgear it include a M1 Worm and on the circle i use a Modul 1 poylamid (plastic) rack strip .

For the Az i need 7 of this poylamid (plastic) rack strip. Every are 20 cm long. I connect it around the circle , and so i get a M1 gear with 560 tooth in Az. In result with the modyfyed motor i have 140 tooth in Az. In ALT i have 760 tooth (190 result). My valute in Az 3,19407 and in Alt 4,3348.
For faster slewing i use a elektronic. Here are the Datasheets of the Diver ICs. 9933A and 9936. Please read before modify.

The next i have made is a modifikation of the serial Port of the Autostar. I have disconnect the 2 wire for the AUX Port on the Autostarboard (8 Pin Connector). Afer i have connect the 2 wire (serial Data IN and serial Data OUT) from the serial Port on the Autostarboard (4Pin Connector) with 2 small wire. Now i have the serial Signal on the AUXPort. The Ground is original on the AUX ( also 12V +). I have made a new serial Cable for the Laptop. You can not use the original serial cable. It is a different Pinout on the AUX. Now i can connect the Laptop on the AUX Port, for using Planetarium software or updating the Handbox. On my Dobson it is easier to work with this combination.
I will not give a detailed view. For the Expert must all be clear, what i do. For no experts: do it not! You can destroy your Autostar or PC. Ask an expert for modify your Autostar.
